Accra, April 2025 — Mr. Harry Theoharis, Member of the Hellenic Parliament and official candidate for Secretary-General of UN Tourism, undertook a working visit to Ghana as part of his Africa outreach tour. Hosted by the Honorary Consulate General of Greece in Accra, the visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and promoting sustainable development through tourism and education.
During his time in Accra, Mr. Theoharis held high-level meetings with Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Minister of Education, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Chief of Staff at the Presidency. He also met with His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel, head of the Holy Archdiocese of Accra, reinforcing the longstanding cultural and spiritual bonds between the Greek and Ghanaian communities.
A diplomatic banquet in his honour was hosted by Hon. Consul Marianna Gavriel, gathering ambassadors, dignitaries, and private sector stakeholders to engage on matters of international cooperation.
As part of his campaign platform, Mr. Theoharis presented his flagship initiative for Africa, “Mission 100: Unite for Impact”, which aims to attract 100 million visitors, generate $100 billion in investment, and create 10 million jobs across Africa by 2030. His visit affirmed Greece’s commitment to deeper engagement with Africa through tourism diplomacy and inclusive growth.
